The South Australian Potato Company is a member of the Fruitorama Group of Companies. Fruitorama (SA) Pty Ltd is a South Australian-based, family owned business. Founded in 1971 by Mr. Vincenzo Raschella as a vegetable wholesaler and merchant, Fruitorama has grown to become a highly diversified and vertically integrated business operating in the potato, carrot, pumpkin, watermelon and onion industries.

In November 1999, the Raschella family purchased The South Australian Potato Growers Cooperative, and formed The South Australian Potato Company. The acquisition resulted in the purchasing of potato farms and water licences throughout South Australia and Victoria. Given the existing operations of Fruitorama, this acquisition enabled the two companies to form a strategic alliance to ensure total control of quality systems from ‘paddock to plate'.

With its international customer base, 150 staff and the capacity to process over 250 tonnes of potato per day, the South Australian Potato Company is a key player in the Australian fresh potato market.
